The Basingstoke Bison are delighted to announce the signing of netminder Ethan James for the 2026/27 season.
James arrives in Basingstoke after 5 years of experience at the Romford Raiders. James brings both talent and experience to The Herd ahead of the new campaign, as we strengthen our netminding roster with a British duo, as Ethan joins Ben Clarke-Leach.
In his last season with the Romford Raiders in 24/25, Ethan James played 36 games and made 1,187 saves.
Known for his composure and ability to make key saves under pressure, James has continued to develop his game over recent seasons. After taking a one-year break from playing, he now makes the move to Basingstoke to be a part of The Herd.
On signing with the Bison, James said:
"I’m looking forward to joining Basingstoke for the upcoming season and supporting Ben Clarke-Leach. Having a British goalie tandem is important to me, and I believe it will be a great opportunity for us to push each other and bring out the best in our game.
I’m excited to get back on the ice after a year away from playing. I’ve heard a lot of positive things about the club from players I’ve shared the ice with previously, and I’m looking forward to reuniting with some familiar faces.
Steve has worked hard to put together a strong squad, and I’m excited to get started and see what we can achieve this season."
Please join us in welcoming Ethan to The Barn.
