The Basingstoke Bison are delighted to announce the signing of forward Mac Howlett ahead of the 2026/27 season.


The 26-year-old left-shooting forward arrives in Basingstoke following an impressive spell in the Planet Ice NIHL National Division, bringing with him a reputation as a fast and dynamic offensive threat.


Howlett enjoyed a strong 2024/25 campaign with the Leeds Knights, registering 25 goals and 22 assists for 47 points across 54 regular season appearances. He continued his form into the play-offs, adding a further 8 points in 7 games to underline his ability to perform in high-pressure situations.


During the 2025/26 season, Howlett made a mid-season move to MK Lightning, where he made an immediate impact. In just 20 league games, he produced an outstanding 33 points, before contributing 8 points in 6 play-off games as Lightning pushed through the post-season.


Known for his speed and attacking instincts, Howlett adds significant firepower to the Bison roster. His ability to create chances and finish clinically makes him a valuable addition as the team looks to strengthen its offensive unit for the upcoming campaign.


On joining the Bison, Mac said, “I’m really pleased to be joining Basingstoke. It’s a club I know well and, with it being my local rink, it feels like a natural fit for me. After the club’s first year back in the league, I’m looking forward to helping the team take another step forward this season.”


Howlett also brings a wealth of experience from higher levels, having previously iced in the Elite League with Glasgow Clan, Coventry Blaze, and Dundee Stars. On the international stage, he has represented Great Britain at both U18 and U20 level, further highlighting his development within the game.
