The Basingstoke Bison are thrilled to announce the signing of Japanese forward Sota Isogai ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Isogai arrives to the PINIHL League having just claimed the Asia League title with Red Eagles Hokkaido, where he was a standout performer throughout the campaign. The 2025/26 season was among the best of his career, recording 22 goals and 18 assists (40 points) in 40 regular season games. He continued his form into the play-offs, adding 6 points in 6 games.
As a forward Sota brings a wealth of experience at both club and international level. He has represented Japan in multiple World Championship Division 1A campaigns and featured in Olympic qualification competition, cementing himself as a key player in Asian hockey.
Sota adds "I am beyond excited to have this opportunity to play for the Basingstoke Bison in the upcoming season! I want to thank the whole organisation for giving me this chance, and I cannot wait to get started in Great Britain!"
Sota’s career has taken him across four countries, having begun his development in Russia before moving to Austria, then crossing the Atlantic to compete in the NA3HL and NAHL in North America, and finally returning to Japan to establish himself as one of the top players in the league.
Everyone at Basingstoke Bison would like to welcome Sota to the club, and we look forward to seeing him in a Bison jersey next season. If you are interested in sponsoring Sota or any of our players, please get in touch at sponsorship@basingstokebison.com.
