We are a few months into the 2026/27 season and there is already plenty to shout about at Basingstoke! Packed stands, a surge in season ticket holders and a team pushing for the playoffs have made this an exciting start to the season.


From the first face-off, the Herd has shown up both on the ice and in the stands. Average attendance this season is at over 85% of capacity. Match after match, Bison fans have filled the arena and created the kind of atmosphere that makes the barn rock!


That commitment also goes beyond single games. Season ticket sales are up 38% from the 2025/26 season, a huge vote of confidence from supporters who have signed up for the full ride.


On the ice, the team’s performance is up from last year, with the Bison currently sitting 7th in the league, inside the top eight and on track for the season's key goal: qualifying for the playoffs. Although, there is still a long way to go, and every point will count in a tight table. But the team has given itself a strong platform, and with the support it is getting at home, the Herd will be determined to stay in the playoff places and keep climbing.


 


Additionally, with the increase of fans coming through the doors, Planet Ice is investing in the match night experience such as added new disco lights to bring even more energy to the arena and more food and drink staff, so fans spend less time waiting and more time watching hockey.


 


Operations Manager, Danny Perchard, said: “It’s been a brilliant start to the season, and the backing we’ve had from our supporters has been incredible. The atmosphere they create every match night is what makes Planet Ice Basingstoke such a special place to watch hockey, and we want everyone who comes through our doors to have the best possible experience. The improvements we’ve made so far are just part of that ongoing commitment.
